• Gonorrhea: Gonorrhea is caused by the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae . Infection affects the genitals, mouth and anus. Symptoms can include painful urination, discharge and inflammation. • Trichomonads ( trichomoniasis ) : Trichomonads are single-cell parasites that can cause an infection in the genital area (infect the mucous membranes in the urethra and vagina) . An infection in men is often not noticed due to the "lack" of symptoms. In women, however , the situation is different: Typical symptoms are pain when urinating and a noticeable discharge from the vagina. If the infection is not treated, it can lead to infertility in women.
• Mycoplasma genitalium: Mycoplasma genitalium is a bacterium that can cause infections in the genital area. It often causes no symptoms, but if left untreated, it can lead to inflammation and complications such as infertility.
• Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma parvum and Ureaplasma urealyticum: These types of bacteria can also cause infections in the genital area. They can lead to inflammation and increase the risk of complications.
