Discover the hidden power of your genes with the COFFEEGEN test!
The COFFEEGEN test, which we have put together together with our partner INTLAB, offers a groundbreaking way to find out how your body can optimally increase performance through caffeine. It is aimed at all those who want to improve their performance in a natural and efficient way - safely and precisely based on sound scientific findings and cost-effectively through a one-time test.
What is behind caffeine genetics?
Caffeine is known to increase performance, but its effects depend on how our body metabolizes it. Our genes play a crucial role in determining how efficiently our body processes caffeine.
How does the test work?
The COFFEEGEN test reveals, among other things:
- Your personal caffeine metabolism type
- Ways you can influence and increase your performance with caffeine
- Recommendations for action to optimize your performance (with possible increases of up to +7%) or even avoid caffeine-related performance losses (up to -14%)
- The ideal times for consuming caffeine – be it before training, competitions or mental challenges
- Concrete information about what amount of caffeine at what time will support your maximum performance.
Discover the targeted use of caffeine for your personal peak performance – learn how to fully exploit the potential of your genes!
There are three types of caffeine:
- Genotype CYP1A2 AA (Fast Caffeine Metabolizer)
- Genotype CYP1A2 AC (Reduced Caffeine Metabolizer)
- CYP1A2 CC (Slow Caffeine Metabolizer)
With the COFFEEGEN test you can find out which type you belong to and what that means for you in terms of your caffeine consumption.
95 percent of the metabolism takes place through the enzyme CYP1A2. In the DNA, this enzyme is encoded by the gene of the same name – and this is exactly where differences between people become apparent.
Only people of the CYP1A2 AA genotype (Fast Caffeine Metabolizer) can increase their performance through the standard dosage and intake recommendation.
People with the genotype CYP1A2 AC (Reduced Caffeine Metabolizer) and CYP1A2 CC (Slow Caffeine Metabolizer) must deviate from the standard recommendation in order to achieve an increase in performance or even prevent a drop in performance.
The COFFEEGEN test examines a specific site (rs762551) on the CYP1A2 gene. CYP1A2 is responsible for 95% of caffeine metabolism.
The different genotypes of the CYP1A2 gene determine the caffeine metabolism type. The COFFEEGEN test tells you, among other things:
- What gene-based caffeine metabolism type do you have?
- Can you influence or improve your performance with caffeine?
- What do you need to do to optimize your performance (max.: +7%) or avoid a caffeine-related drop in performance (up to -14%)?
Specifically: with what amount of caffeine and at what time do you reach your optimum?
After your order, we will send you a package with your personal test kit.
You can take a sample of mucous membrane yourself using a simple cheek swab. It's quick and uncomplicated. Simply put the swab in the enclosed tube and send the return envelope to our laboratory. The laboratory will examine your CYP1A2 gene and within the next 2 weeks you will receive your individual report with your results in the DoctorBox.
