Understand your heart health with lipid metabolism analysis
Use the fatty acid analysis to measure the status of your body's fatty acid supply. Fatty acids and cholesterol play an important role in cardiovascular disease and inflammation, which is why your intake should be carefully monitored. In particular, the ratios of certain fatty acids to one another provide information about your health status.
With this home test from DoctorBox you can check which fatty acids you consume and in what concentration.
Together with your total cholesterol level, we use the fatty acid analysis to analyze the four most important fatty acid categories in your body and their ratios: saturated fatty acids, monounsaturated fatty acids, omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids. With this home test, you will receive a laboratory evaluation with detailed and easy-to-understand recommendations for action.
Fatty acid analysis
- Home test for prevention of your heart health
- Based on dry blood: quick, uncomplicated and confidential, can be carried out from home
- Simple, painless handling
- Evaluation of the result by an accredited medical laboratory
- Test result after approx. 14 days, directly online in the DoctorBox app
If the lipid metabolism is disturbed, there are usually hardly any symptoms. Nevertheless, you should watch out for the following symptoms:
- Yellowish-brownish to reddish nodules on the eyelids, Achilles tendons, elbows, or knees (xanthomas)
- Cloudy rings in the eye around the cornea
- Pain in the abdomen, usually at the level of the liver or due to inflammation of the pancreas
- crampy leg pain when walking for long periods
- Chest pain, which can be a sign of a heart attack, especially if it occurs with exertion
After your sample has been evaluated in the medical laboratory, you will receive your individual findings in digital form via the DoctorBox app. In the case of the lipid metabolism analysis, the result report was sorted according to the relevance of the biomarkers and groups. So you see the most important things first.
The results are clearly presented, the further information was formulated in a way that is understandable for "laypersons". For each value there is a green reference range with recommendations on how to optimize it.

Fatty acids and cholesterol play important roles in cardiovascular disease and inflammation, so their intake should be carefully controlled.
In particular, the ratio of certain fatty acids to one another can have an important impact on your health. For example, the positive effect of omega-3 and omega-6 is only guaranteed if they are consumed in a ratio of 5:1.
In Germany, the status quo is as follows: On average, ten to twenty times as many omega-6 fatty acids are eaten here. It is important to strike the right balance here. Check out this blog post for more information!
Adults (18 years and older) who want to have their lipid metabolism checked, e.g. B. if they have symptoms.
Important risk groups for altered lipid metabolism analysis are:
- people of older age
- people with heart disease
- people who are overweight
We recommend that you fast for at least 4 hours before performing this test. This way you can minimize the fluctuations due to your last food intake and get the best possible results.
Along with your total cholesterol levels, this test shows the levels of the four major categories of fatty acids in your body and their ratios: saturated fat, monounsaturated fat, omega-3 fatty acids, and omega-6 fatty acids.
Omega fatty acids can be monounsaturated or polyunsaturated. Two of the omega fatty acids are vital - i.e. essential - for us humans, namely alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid and linoleic acid (LA), an omega-6 fatty acid.
The human organism is able to metabolize these two fatty acids into biologically active substances. However, the body's own capacity for conversion is limited. This means the following: If too many omega-6 fatty acids are supplied, the omega-3 conversion is restricted. For this reason, it is very important to maintain a good balance between these two fatty acids - namely a ratio of 5:1: 5 parts omega-6 and 1 part omega-3.
Omega-3 fatty acids are very important for the body in many ways. On the one hand, they keep the cell membrane supple and are therefore an important cell building block. In addition, the organism needs omega-3 fatty acids for the formation of various tissue hormones.
- The alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) supports a normal triglyceride level in the blood (blood fat values). It also supports the maintenance of a normal cholesterol level in the body.
- Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) supports normal brain function. In addition, the eyesight is promoted by this omega-3 fatty acid.
- In addition, the two omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA promote the functioning of the heart and help maintain normal blood pressure.
Omega-6 fatty acids support blood clotting, blood pressure regulation, cholesterol regulation and also various repair and growth processes. Omega-6 fatty acids have a reputation for promoting inflammation. The main reason for this is that the omega-6 fatty acid arachidonic acid produces certain tissue hormones, which in turn generate free radicals. These free radicals can attack the body's own cells, causing inflammation.
You get a clear result for each of the 11 most common fatty acids and total cholesterol in your body and their ratios. You'll get an explanation of how each biomarker can affect your heart health and specific advice on how to improve your diet to optimize your fatty acid intake.
